Content that Performs, Communicates, and Converts
While social media is hot, people still read emails. It might not feel as sexy, but email marketing works.
Blog posts are a perfect compliment to email marketing. Blogs are great for getting email subscribers to click through – put a teaser in the email and link to the full blog post so people have to go to your website to get the full story, which takes them away from their email program and has them thinking about your business and on your website to explore further.
Email Marketing
How do you create opportunities through email marketing?
- All of your customers have email. Email is an easy way to stay in touch, engage and turn prospects into buyers. They expect to get emails about your products and services – that’s why they gave you their email in the first place.
- Email marketing is easy to measure. We can see how many people opened the email, clicked on links, unsubscribed or bounced. This segmentation then shows us who is interested in your content.
- It’s cheap to send an email, and you’re sending it to a group of people who already have some interest and familiarity with your brand.
- Targeted messaging nurtures your buyer, thus creating a call-to-action and increasing sales. You can segment your audience and send different messages to different consumers based on where they are in the purchase cycle.
- Increase and build brand awareness. Sending emails allows you to build on your consumer’s interest towards your product/services, and also, you stay fresh in their mind when they are considering a specific purchase.
- Email Marketing is timely, and it is a helpful tool to follow up a few days after a purchase. You might like to can send your buyer a special treat via email on their birthday or a special offer based on the season.
Blog Posts
Give Google (and your customers) the good stuff
Blog posts are thoughtful articles where you highlight your field of expertise. They are an informal, fun, and interactive way to share tips, thoughts, musings, and how-to’s, including videos, all aimed to emphasise and strengthen your product/service.
What are the benefits of blog posts?
- With regular blogs, you allow Google the opportunity to add more pages to their search engine results, where a regular stream of new content is found. And if your content is written well, then Google responds by ranking your blog higher.
- When you share a short snippet of your blog (the most exciting, fun or interesting part) on social media, you have generated an immediate click-through opportunity if you link it to your website.
- Often, customers have the same repeat questions. To alleviate repetitive emails and often timely replies, you can post a blog that has the most commonly asked questions, supplying the answers. You then provide a quick link to your client, exposing them to your entire website, thus increasing brand awareness.
- Blogs can help establish your business as an industry leader. The more quality content you publish, the more customers and peers see your business as credible, reliable, consistent and knowledgeable. With a higher volume of traffic on your website, it shows Google you’ve got quality content.
Build Your Email List

A popup or offer on the home page invites users to provide their email address which is automatically added to your MailChimp list. The offer could be a discount on their next purchase, access to download some bonus content, or some other incentive that they’ll see as exclusive and useful.
We also create automated responders that automatically notify visitors of the reward they have received.

By reviewing your campaign we can improve retention, gauge what was the hot topic that received the most click-throughs, and then if required, make any adjustments. Your report outlines all the key statistics on the performance of your email campaigns, comparing each month, including the growth over the life of your campaigns.

FAQs
I have email addresses in an old system/Outlook/spreadsheet can I use these?
As long as the customers would reasonably expect to hear from you, yes! If there’s a lot of emails on the list that are older than two (2) years, then it’s possible that those customers won’t remember giving you their email address, therefore it wouldn’t be appropriate to email them.
If you have a list though, and it’s relevant, we can import that into MailChimp to build up your existing list. Just ask us, and we can help with the techy part of getting the list into the right format or help you export it from your existing system.
How much does it cost for Catalyst to do email marketing for me?
It depends on how often you want to send out emails to your subscribers, and how much goes into each email. In some situations a longer email is useful, while other times, short email blasts are more effective. So it all depends on what is right for your business. Luckily we have lots of options from as little as $115 per month.
What does it cost to send out bulk emails with MailChimp?
MailChimp offers a free plan if you’re ok with having a little MailChimp credit in the footer of your emails – and stay within their limits of 500 contacts in total and sending less than 2,500 emails in a month. Paid accounts with MailChimp start at about $20 per month. Read more at https://mailchimp.com/en-au/pricing/
Do I have to use MailChimp?
MailChimp is a big player in the market and is popular because of the free plan. There are other options but typically no free options. We recommend MailChimp as their reputation and reliability continues to expand and develop their platform. And it’s our main form of marketing that is credible, so our team knows lots of tricks to get good results using MailChimp.
Can I send out my own emails in MailChimp as well as the ones Catalyst puts out?
Yes. We’ll give you access to MailChimp so you can view reports and see what’s going on and you can certainly send out campaigns on your own if you need to.
